Создание его было обусловлено несколькими факторами. Во-первых, Нил ярый фанат музыкального театра. Во-вторых, Крис давненько жаждал самостоятельно написать мюзикл. А в-третьих, такая возможность группе предоставилась в 1994 году, когда музыканты получили от BBC предложение: "Ребята, а сочините-ка для нас телемюзикл, а?.."
Ребята приступили к делу, и что самое главное - познакомились с драматургом Джонатаном Харви (Jonathan Harvey), который и выступил в качестве либреттиста. Забегая вперёд, скажем, что общая работа над мюзиклом заняла пять лет...
Но это было потом. А пока проект BBC благополучно канул в лету. Тем не менее, PSB были настолько захвачены идеей и возможностью поработать вместе с замечательным парнем Харви, что в 1997 году, утроив передышку между выпусками альбомов и поездками в туры, Теннант и Лоу принялись за дело...
Изначально Нил и Крис планировали положить в основу своего мюзикла новеллу Грэма Грина (Graham Greene) "Брайтонский леденец" (Brighton Rock). Но, к сожалению, возникли проблемы с авторскими правами - некто уже положил глаз на классический сюжет, и PSB остались не у дел (может, это и к лучшему, ибо сюжет "Леденца" хоть и гораздо менее тривиален, чем то, что получилось, зато куда как более страшен и угрюм).

Положение спас Харви, предложивший свой собственный сюжет: мол, давайте-ка сочиним мюзикл про бисексуальный любовный треугольник. И чтобы всё происходило в ночном клубе! Джонатан же и название придумал - Nightlife ("Ночная жизнь"). Правда, вскоре название поменяли (видимо, лишь потому, что первая идея - Nightlife - оказалась востребована самими PSB; так они назвали свой альбом 1999 года), и оно приняло привычный нам вид - Closer to Heaven.
К чести Нила и Криса, стоит отметить, что все песни для будущего мюзикла были специально ими сочинены - музыканты не пошли по проторенной другими дорожке под названием "а возьмём-ка мы свои хиты да слепим из них чего-нибудь!" Как раз альбом Nightlife стал для части из свежих сочинений эдакой промо-площадкой (например, здесь на суд слушателей были представлены Vampires, In Denial, записанная с Кайли Миноуг, и даже заглавная Closer To Heaven - её текст отличался от всех трёх "мюзикловых" версий).
Но вот мюзикл был написан, отрепетирован и презентован. Официальная дата премьеры - 15 мая 2001 года, она состоялась в лондонском театре Arts Theatre. Интересный факт: продюсером являлся сам Эндрю Ллойд Уэббер.
Можно с ходу предположить, что отзывы были получены диаметрально противоположные - от истерично-хвалебных до разгромных. Единственное, что не отрицалось - это высочайшее качество музыкального материала. Он был столь хорош, что многие ханжески настроенные личности прощали мюзиклу его "скользкую" тематику.
Тем не менее, кассовые сборы были высоки, и C2H продержался на сцене пять месяцев (что, говорят, для Лондона не так уж плохо), закрывшись 13 октября 2001 года. Причём, продюсеры во всеуслышание заявили, что этот мюзикл обязательно будет возобновлён (не соврали: в июне 2005 года C2H возродился в Австралии, а в сентябре 2009 года - снова в Великобритании, в Брайтоне; на октябрь 2010 года состоялась американская премьера в Далласе).
За пять дней до закрытия оригинальной версии C2H вышел альбом, которому эта запись и посвящена. Что интересно, этот диск был выпущен только в Великобритании.
Ну что ж, пожалуй, приступим к содержанию мюзикла. читать дальшеШоу открывает песня "Моя ночь" (My Night). Главные герои мюзикла как бы представляются нам. Начинает Билли Трикс (Billie Trix) - заходящая рок-звезда, бывшая суперпопулярной в 70-х и 80-х годах. Сейчас она является главной фигурой в ночном клубе, в котором и начинает действие C2H. Также она - как бы вторая мама для всех завсегдатаев клуба. Владелец клуба - Вик Кристиан (Vic Christian), гомосексуалист средних лет, который, тем не менее, имеет дочь Шелл (Shell). Все эти персонажи исполняют по куплету My Night, рассказывая, как они планируют провести эту ночь и даже изменить свою жизнь (в альбом вошла укороченная версия первого трека - мы слышим только вокал Билли Трикс; полный вариант в в исполнении Теннанта представлен в демо-альбомах, предварявших выход мюзикла, либо можно ознакомиться с ним, просмотрев любительское видео).
Paul Keating
Один из куплетов исполняет и Стрейт Дейв (Straight Dave; в переводе - Дейв-Натурал), молодой человек, который только что приехал из Ирландии и планирует стать "чем-то необычным", что и подтверждает в своей песне (Something Special). Вик решает нанять Дейва в качестве бармена в своём ночном клубе.
Вскоре Дейв и Шелл знакомятся друг с другом и испытывают вполне определённую обоюдную симпатию (Closer to Heaven - первая версия в исполнении Дейва и Шелл; в этом повторяющемся треке персонажи делятся своими планами и надеждами, в основном, касающихся любви; они рассказывают, что делает их "ближе к небесам"; на альбоме мы слышим три повтора этой песни, в мюзикле их было четыре - и все эти четыре варианта отличаются от версии песни Closer to Heaven, представленных на альбоме PSB Nightlife).
Затем мы наблюдаем откровенный разговор между Виком и Шелл (In Denial). Они обсуждают свои страхи по поводу их отношения друг к другу и своего будущего, уменьшение взаимопонимания между дочерью и отцом и сексуальные пристрастия Вика.
Появляется Боб Сандерс (Bob Saunders), музыкант-декадент, фигура неоднозначная и отнюдь не положительная; Боб также не относится к сексуальному большинству (Call Me Old-Fashioned). "I'm an absolute shit" ("Я - полное дерьмо"), как он сам поёт о себе.
Билли Трикс тем временем знакомится с Дейвом и решает, что он достоин большего, чем работы барменом - Билли хочет превратить юношу в музыканта.
А чувства Дейва и Шелл растут. Они (Дейв и Шелл, а не чувство, понятное дело) занимаются любовью, после чего между ними происходит спор-игра, в котором они оценивают друг друга по десятибалльной системе (Nine Out of Ten). Шелл даёт Дейву "девять из десяти" баллов, а он ей - всего восемь. Затем они переходят к обсуждению "размера" - юноша интересуется, устроит ли её "девять из десяти", а девушка в ответ переспрашивает: "Это в дюймах или в сантиметрах?" Заканчивается всё уверениями Шелл в любви. На вопрос о силе её чувств, она интересуется, устроит ли ответ: "Девять из десяти"?
Следующая песня, которую исполняет Билли Трикс в ночном клубе, подчёркивает жизнерадостную, но саморазрушающую атмосферу, в которой существуют персонажи (It's Just My Little Tribute to Caligula, Darling). Билли упоминает, что римский император Калигула должен был быть бисексуальным (ну, время было такое), намекая, видимо, на Дейва - мол, не такой уж он и натурал, как хочет казаться.
Далее следует инструментальный трек (Hedonism), который является "мостиком" между первым и вторым актом мюзикла. В конце первого акта под эту музыку Вик напивается и принимает наркотики, хотя обещал своей дочери Шелл больше этого не делать. Второй акт открывается "диким танцем" в ночном клубе.
А Билли Трикс позволяет себе отбросить жизнерадостный "фасад" и открывает свою душу - на самом деле ей очень плохо и одиноко (Friendly Fire - этот военный термин можно перевести как "огонь со стороны своих"). По словам Билли, рок-иконы часто попадают под "дружеский огонь" - те, кто всё ещё поклоняются им, угрожают и даже порой убивают...
Затем по сценарию настаёт время "настоящего мюзиклового" массового номера (Shameless). "Мерзкие знаменитости" (Vile Celebrities) рассказывают о том, какие они, собственно говоря, мерзкие.

А Вик полностью теряет контроль над собой, он пьёт без просыха, принимает наркотики и из-за этого всего окончательно ссорится с дочерью. Вик измучен своей "вампирской жизнью" - всю ночь работать, спать днём и выпивать "живительную влагу" (настоящие вампиры, понятно, не с алкоголем имеют дело) до капли (Vampires). Все вокруг - "вампиры"...
А Дейв в это время... Да, он забывает о своей Шелл и влюбляется в красавца-драгдилера по имени Майл Энд Ли (Mile End Lee) - вот вам и "натурал" (Closer to Heaven - вторая версия в исполнении Дейва и Ли). Молодые люди оказываются в постели, а затем высказывают друг другу свои чувства и желание продолжать отношения.
Шелл, узнав о такой измене любимого (мало того, что изменил, так ещё же и с парнем!..), конечно же, отнюдь не рада. Она решает не сидеть и рыдать, а выкинуть Дейва из своей жизни (Out of My System).
У Ли тоже большие проблемы - узнав, что парень приторговывает наркотиками в его клубе, Вик отнимает весь товар. Ли нечем расплатиться с поставщиком.
Ли, уверенный, что после всего случившегося Дейв больше не любит его (тут он ошибался), принимает большую дозу кетамина, что приводит к его смерти (K-Hole - об этом треке подробнее мы напишем ниже)...
Дейв, ошарашенный смертью возлюбленного, оплакивает его - и себя, а также всех остальных, живущих такой жизнью (For All of Us).
Дейв сокрушается о потерянной любви, надеждах и будущем (Closer to Heaven - третья версия, соло Дейва). Но будет ли свет в конце туннеля?
В самой песне это не сказано, но она переходит в финальную (Positive Role Model), быструю и позитивную. Мы можем сделать из этого вывод, что да, будет. Дейв сделает выводы из полученных уроков, в том числе, примет свой гомосексуализм, и пойдёт по жизни дальше.
Вот и конец.
Что-то такое сумбурное и бессмысленное, да? Проблема в том, что полного синопсиса мной не найдено, собирала всё методом "по сусекам поскребла". Хочется надеяться, что общая картина всё же была более логична и глубока.
Но спасают две вещи: шикарная музыка и великолепное исполнение. Пол Китин (Paul Keating) www.londontheatre.co.uk/londontheatre/questions... обладает сильнейшим голосом и лирическим талантом, Стейси Рока (Stacey Roca)en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stacey_Roca тоже отличная певица и актриса, Дэвид Бёрт (David Burt) берёт не столько вокалом, сколько артистизмом и надрывом (его Vampires - просто шедевр). Да и Френсис Барбер (Frances Barber)en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frances_Barber с её своеобразным тембром - находка (правда, вживую её слушать невозможно, но в записи - наоборот; но Френсис - известная британская драматическая актриса, она даже главную роль в чеховской "Чайке" сыграла, так что ей позволительно петь хуже, чем лицедействовать; кроме того, Френсис участвовала в C2H только до 15 сентября, уже со следующего дня и до закрытия мюзикла роль играла Аманда Харрис (Amanda Harris)).
А теперь поговорим о том, что обещали выше. О треке K-Hole (название символизирует кетаминовые глюки). Это - инструментальный момент, на фоне которого звучат слова песни Билли Трикс Run Girl Run!
С этой песней связана полумистификация, устроенная PSB. Почему "полу"? Потому что сами музыканты не скрывали, что это - их рук дело. А почему "мистификация"? Потому что многие слушатели до сих пор верят, что описанный ниже сингл записан той реально существовавшей певицей, которая указана на обложке, и в те же года, отпечатанные на диске.

Итак, видимо, чтобы поставить точку в легенде о певице Билли Трикс (её на самом деле не было, выдуманная она), PSB выпускают "её" сингл, на котором была представлена "лучшая песня Билли Трикс" (даже так: Billie Trix's biggest hit) в двух версиях: Run Girl Run! (original 1971 Single version) и Run Girl Run! (1981 Post-Apocalyptic Nightmare mix). Эти диски продавались в холле театра во время поздних показов мюзикла. Понятно, пела там Френсис Барбер.
Песня Run Girl Run! ("Беги, девочка, беги!") основывалась на всем известной фотографии "Напалм во Вьетнаме" - группа вьетнамских мирных жителей на фоне клубов дыма спасалась от атаки напалмовыми бомбами; в центре группы выделялась плачущая обнажённая девочка - это была Ким Фук, сорвавшая с себя горящую одежду (порадуем тех, кто не в курсе - Ким выжила, хоть врачи и посчитали её ожоги смертельными, и здравствует до сих пор).
Вернёмся к C2H. Как мы помним, трек K-Hole звучал в момент смерти Ли от передозировки. Во время первых показов мюзикла, как вспоминает ряд очевидцев, этот момент выглядел так: Ли умирал на руках Дейва, а фоном звучало пение Билли Трикс (те самые строки из Run Girl Run!). Позже (мы говорим, напомним, об одной и той же версии мюзикла - оригинальной, а не поздних) Ли умирал в полном одиночестве, а издалека доносился замикшированный голос Билли.
Как бы то ни было, символизм понятен: Ли тоже "сожжён", его смерть - попытка "убежать" от себя самого.

Создание его было обусловлено несколькими факторами. Во-первых, Нил ярый фанат музыкального театра. Во-вторых, Крис давненько жаждал самостоятельно написать мюзикл. А в-третьих, такая возможность группе предоставилась в 1994 году, когда музыканты получили от BBC предложение: "Ребята, а сочините-ка для нас телемюзикл, а?.."Ребята приступили к делу, и что самое главное - познакомились с драматургом Джонатаном Харви (Jonathan Harvey), который и выступил в качестве либреттиста. Забегая вперёд, скажем, что общая работа над мюзиклом заняла пять лет...
Но это было потом. А пока проект BBC благополучно канул в лету. Тем не менее, PSB были настолько захвачены идеей и возможностью поработать вместе с замечательным парнем Харви, что в 1997 году, утроив передышку между выпусками альбомов и поездками в туры, Теннант и Лоу принялись за дело...
Изначально Нил и Крис планировали положить в основу своего мюзикла новеллу Грэма Грина (Graham Greene) "Брайтонский леденец" (Brighton Rock). Но, к сожалению, возникли проблемы с авторскими правами - некто уже положил глаз на классический сюжет, и PSB остались не у дел (может, это и к лучшему, ибо сюжет "Леденца" хоть и гораздо менее тривиален, чем то, что получилось, зато куда как более страшен и угрюм).
Arts Theatre, Лондон - здесь шла оригинальная версия C2H
Положение спас Харви, предложивший свой собственный сюжет: мол, давайте-ка сочиним мюзикл про бисексуальный любовный треугольник. И чтобы всё происходило в ночном клубе! Джонатан же и название придумал - Nightlife ("Ночная жизнь"). Правда, вскоре название поменяли (видимо, лишь потому, что первая идея - Nightlife - оказалась востребована самими PSB; так они назвали свой альбом 1999 года), и оно приняло привычный нам вид - Closer to Heaven.
К чести Нила и Криса, стоит отметить, что все песни для будущего мюзикла были специально ими сочинены - музыканты не пошли по проторенной другими дорожке под названием "а возьмём-ка мы свои хиты да слепим из них чего-нибудь!" Как раз альбом Nightlife стал для части из свежих сочинений эдакой промо-площадкой (например, здесь на суд слушателей были представлены Vampires, In Denial, записанная с Кайли Миноуг, и даже заглавная Closer To Heaven - её текст отличался от всех трёх "мюзикловых" версий).
Но вот мюзикл был написан, отрепетирован и презентован. Официальная дата премьеры - 15 мая 2001 года, она состоялась в лондонском театре Arts Theatre. Интересный факт: продюсером являлся сам Эндрю Ллойд Уэббер.
Можно с ходу предположить, что отзывы были получены диаметрально противоположные - от истерично-хвалебных до разгромных. Единственное, что не отрицалось - это высочайшее качество музыкального материала. Он был столь хорош, что многие ханжески настроенные личности прощали мюзиклу его "скользкую" тематику.
Тем не менее, кассовые сборы были высоки, и C2H продержался на сцене пять месяцев (что, говорят, для Лондона не так уж плохо), закрывшись 13 октября 2001 года. Причём, продюсеры во всеуслышание заявили, что этот мюзикл обязательно будет возобновлён (не соврали: в июне 2005 года C2H возродился в Австралии, а в сентябре 2009 года - снова в Великобритании, в Брайтоне; на октябрь 2010 года состоялась американская премьера в Далласе).
За пять дней до закрытия оригинальной версии C2H вышел альбом, которому эта запись и посвящена. Что интересно, этот диск был выпущен только в Великобритании.
Ну что ж, пожалуй, приступим к содержанию мюзикла. читать дальшеШоу открывает песня "Моя ночь" (My Night). Главные герои мюзикла как бы представляются нам. Начинает Билли Трикс (Billie Trix) - заходящая рок-звезда, бывшая суперпопулярной в 70-х и 80-х годах. Сейчас она является главной фигурой в ночном клубе, в котором и начинает действие C2H. Также она - как бы вторая мама для всех завсегдатаев клуба. Владелец клуба - Вик Кристиан (Vic Christian), гомосексуалист средних лет, который, тем не менее, имеет дочь Шелл (Shell). Все эти персонажи исполняют по куплету My Night, рассказывая, как они планируют провести эту ночь и даже изменить свою жизнь (в альбом вошла укороченная версия первого трека - мы слышим только вокал Билли Трикс; полный вариант в в исполнении Теннанта представлен в демо-альбомах, предварявших выход мюзикла, либо можно ознакомиться с ним, просмотрев любительское видео).
Paul Keating
Один из куплетов исполняет и Стрейт Дейв (Straight Dave; в переводе - Дейв-Натурал), молодой человек, который только что приехал из Ирландии и планирует стать "чем-то необычным", что и подтверждает в своей песне (Something Special). Вик решает нанять Дейва в качестве бармена в своём ночном клубе.
Вскоре Дейв и Шелл знакомятся друг с другом и испытывают вполне определённую обоюдную симпатию (Closer to Heaven - первая версия в исполнении Дейва и Шелл; в этом повторяющемся треке персонажи делятся своими планами и надеждами, в основном, касающихся любви; они рассказывают, что делает их "ближе к небесам"; на альбоме мы слышим три повтора этой песни, в мюзикле их было четыре - и все эти четыре варианта отличаются от версии песни Closer to Heaven, представленных на альбоме PSB Nightlife).
Затем мы наблюдаем откровенный разговор между Виком и Шелл (In Denial). Они обсуждают свои страхи по поводу их отношения друг к другу и своего будущего, уменьшение взаимопонимания между дочерью и отцом и сексуальные пристрастия Вика.
Появляется Боб Сандерс (Bob Saunders), музыкант-декадент, фигура неоднозначная и отнюдь не положительная; Боб также не относится к сексуальному большинству (Call Me Old-Fashioned). "I'm an absolute shit" ("Я - полное дерьмо"), как он сам поёт о себе.
Билли Трикс тем временем знакомится с Дейвом и решает, что он достоин большего, чем работы барменом - Билли хочет превратить юношу в музыканта.
А чувства Дейва и Шелл растут. Они (Дейв и Шелл, а не чувство, понятное дело) занимаются любовью, после чего между ними происходит спор-игра, в котором они оценивают друг друга по десятибалльной системе (Nine Out of Ten). Шелл даёт Дейву "девять из десяти" баллов, а он ей - всего восемь. Затем они переходят к обсуждению "размера" - юноша интересуется, устроит ли её "девять из десяти", а девушка в ответ переспрашивает: "Это в дюймах или в сантиметрах?" Заканчивается всё уверениями Шелл в любви. На вопрос о силе её чувств, она интересуется, устроит ли ответ: "Девять из десяти"?
Следующая песня, которую исполняет Билли Трикс в ночном клубе, подчёркивает жизнерадостную, но саморазрушающую атмосферу, в которой существуют персонажи (It's Just My Little Tribute to Caligula, Darling). Билли упоминает, что римский император Калигула должен был быть бисексуальным (ну, время было такое), намекая, видимо, на Дейва - мол, не такой уж он и натурал, как хочет казаться.
Далее следует инструментальный трек (Hedonism), который является "мостиком" между первым и вторым актом мюзикла. В конце первого акта под эту музыку Вик напивается и принимает наркотики, хотя обещал своей дочери Шелл больше этого не делать. Второй акт открывается "диким танцем" в ночном клубе.
А Билли Трикс позволяет себе отбросить жизнерадостный "фасад" и открывает свою душу - на самом деле ей очень плохо и одиноко (Friendly Fire - этот военный термин можно перевести как "огонь со стороны своих"). По словам Билли, рок-иконы часто попадают под "дружеский огонь" - те, кто всё ещё поклоняются им, угрожают и даже порой убивают...
Затем по сценарию настаёт время "настоящего мюзиклового" массового номера (Shameless). "Мерзкие знаменитости" (Vile Celebrities) рассказывают о том, какие они, собственно говоря, мерзкие.

А Вик полностью теряет контроль над собой, он пьёт без просыха, принимает наркотики и из-за этого всего окончательно ссорится с дочерью. Вик измучен своей "вампирской жизнью" - всю ночь работать, спать днём и выпивать "живительную влагу" (настоящие вампиры, понятно, не с алкоголем имеют дело) до капли (Vampires). Все вокруг - "вампиры"...
А Дейв в это время... Да, он забывает о своей Шелл и влюбляется в красавца-драгдилера по имени Майл Энд Ли (Mile End Lee) - вот вам и "натурал" (Closer to Heaven - вторая версия в исполнении Дейва и Ли). Молодые люди оказываются в постели, а затем высказывают друг другу свои чувства и желание продолжать отношения.
Шелл, узнав о такой измене любимого (мало того, что изменил, так ещё же и с парнем!..), конечно же, отнюдь не рада. Она решает не сидеть и рыдать, а выкинуть Дейва из своей жизни (Out of My System).
У Ли тоже большие проблемы - узнав, что парень приторговывает наркотиками в его клубе, Вик отнимает весь товар. Ли нечем расплатиться с поставщиком.
Ли, уверенный, что после всего случившегося Дейв больше не любит его (тут он ошибался), принимает большую дозу кетамина, что приводит к его смерти (K-Hole - об этом треке подробнее мы напишем ниже)...
Дейв, ошарашенный смертью возлюбленного, оплакивает его - и себя, а также всех остальных, живущих такой жизнью (For All of Us).
Дейв сокрушается о потерянной любви, надеждах и будущем (Closer to Heaven - третья версия, соло Дейва). Но будет ли свет в конце туннеля?
В самой песне это не сказано, но она переходит в финальную (Positive Role Model), быструю и позитивную. Мы можем сделать из этого вывод, что да, будет. Дейв сделает выводы из полученных уроков, в том числе, примет свой гомосексуализм, и пойдёт по жизни дальше.
Вот и конец.
Что-то такое сумбурное и бессмысленное, да? Проблема в том, что полного синопсиса мной не найдено, собирала всё методом "по сусекам поскребла". Хочется надеяться, что общая картина всё же была более логична и глубока.
Но спасают две вещи: шикарная музыка и великолепное исполнение. Пол Китин (Paul Keating) www.londontheatre.co.uk/londontheatre/questions... обладает сильнейшим голосом и лирическим талантом, Стейси Рока (Stacey Roca)en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stacey_Roca тоже отличная певица и актриса, Дэвид Бёрт (David Burt) берёт не столько вокалом, сколько артистизмом и надрывом (его Vampires - просто шедевр). Да и Френсис Барбер (Frances Barber)en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frances_Barber с её своеобразным тембром - находка (правда, вживую её слушать невозможно, но в записи - наоборот; но Френсис - известная британская драматическая актриса, она даже главную роль в чеховской "Чайке" сыграла, так что ей позволительно петь хуже, чем лицедействовать; кроме того, Френсис участвовала в C2H только до 15 сентября, уже со следующего дня и до закрытия мюзикла роль играла Аманда Харрис (Amanda Harris)).
А теперь поговорим о том, что обещали выше. О треке K-Hole (название символизирует кетаминовые глюки). Это - инструментальный момент, на фоне которого звучат слова песни Билли Трикс Run Girl Run!
С этой песней связана полумистификация, устроенная PSB. Почему "полу"? Потому что сами музыканты не скрывали, что это - их рук дело. А почему "мистификация"? Потому что многие слушатели до сих пор верят, что описанный ниже сингл записан той реально существовавшей певицей, которая указана на обложке, и в те же года, отпечатанные на диске.

Итак, видимо, чтобы поставить точку в легенде о певице Билли Трикс (её на самом деле не было, выдуманная она), PSB выпускают "её" сингл, на котором была представлена "лучшая песня Билли Трикс" (даже так: Billie Trix's biggest hit) в двух версиях: Run Girl Run! (original 1971 Single version) и Run Girl Run! (1981 Post-Apocalyptic Nightmare mix). Эти диски продавались в холле театра во время поздних показов мюзикла. Понятно, пела там Френсис Барбер.
Песня Run Girl Run! ("Беги, девочка, беги!") основывалась на всем известной фотографии "Напалм во Вьетнаме" - группа вьетнамских мирных жителей на фоне клубов дыма спасалась от атаки напалмовыми бомбами; в центре группы выделялась плачущая обнажённая девочка - это была Ким Фук, сорвавшая с себя горящую одежду (порадуем тех, кто не в курсе - Ким выжила, хоть врачи и посчитали её ожоги смертельными, и здравствует до сих пор).
Вернёмся к C2H. Как мы помним, трек K-Hole звучал в момент смерти Ли от передозировки. Во время первых показов мюзикла, как вспоминает ряд очевидцев, этот момент выглядел так: Ли умирал на руках Дейва, а фоном звучало пение Билли Трикс (те самые строки из Run Girl Run!). Позже (мы говорим, напомним, об одной и той же версии мюзикла - оригинальной, а не поздних) Ли умирал в полном одиночестве, а издалека доносился замикшированный голос Билли.
Как бы то ни было, символизм понятен: Ли тоже "сожжён", его смерть - попытка "убежать" от себя самого.
